Easter Pictures

I wanted to get some pictures of the kiddos in their Easter outfits, so Monday we headed to the Botanical Gardens in Ft Worth. Caleb really enjoyed the many water fountains they have there. There weren't many blooms yet, but the landscape is always so pretty. It was a perfect day too, warm without wind. I can't wait to go back when there are more flowers blooming.

Lexie's first foods

This week we introduced Lexie to cereal and carrots. So far she is a fan of the new food. Caleb has been very helpful in the process. He insists on feeding her most nights which is sooo cute. The first feeding Caleb told Lexie "you're making a mess baby Lexie", in a sweet baby voice. "But that's ok, you can make a mess" he said. Such an understanding big brother. Every time he talks to her he does so in this very cute baby voice. On the way home yesterday I could hear him teaching Lexie how to properly "chew" on her blanket. Apparently she wasn't doing it correctly. I love watching them interact, as long as he's not trying to pick her up or covering her with a pillow (which has happened). He is often sad that she is not able to do more with him. He complains "Baby Lexie is not big like me yet mommy, I want her to grow faster." Lexie loves her big brother in return. She always smiles when he is near and loves to laugh at his silly faces. Silly girl! Here's what Lexie looks like when she blows bubbles. She's sooo excited.
Caleb had another soccer game this past weekend. He did a super job only scoring one goal for the other team and 2 for our team.

Random thoughts from Caleb

Since Caleb's random questions and statements entertain me so much, I thought I would share some of those fun moments with everyone.
1) He recently has cut his hand washing time down to turning on the water and running his hands under it once very quickly. So I explained how important it was to make sure his hands were clean by washing thoroughly and to do that he should sing "Happy Birthday" twice while washing. He did very well initially singing Happy Birthday to mommy or at least someone, but now I hear him in the bathroom singing "Happy Birthday to nothing, Happy Birthday to nothing" I died laughing.
2) Driving home the other day he asked me if he could visit the jail, not sure about the obsession with jail, but he wanted to make sure and tell the police officer he was a good guy and not a bad guy so they wouldn't put him in jail.
3) While playing baseball outside, he once again hit the ball over the fence then looked at me with a sheepish grin and said "that's part of the game."
4) Recently he enjoys seeing how hard he can give you a "high five". He actually got me pretty hard once and when I complained how it hurt he said "that's the way it goes sweetie."
5) Caleb was looking for some stray toys under the love seat and was having trouble pushing it out of the way. He looked over at us and said "I need teamwork to push this thing."
6) Today I told him we needed to get daddy so we can "pick up" his truck from the shop. He replied "ok mommy, but can your car hold daddy's truck?"
7) I was giving Greg a hard time about messing up my laundry and Greg was jokingly responding when Caleb, who looked like he was not paying attention, says "It's ok daddy, just try harder next time." I love it. We can all learn from his great wisdom.
Some of his other comments include:
" That was awesome guys."
" That's my most favoritest"
"That's really cool"
and his newest song he will randomly sing comes from this year's American Idol. Those of you who are fans my know it. "Lookin like a fool with you pants on the ground" comes out of his mouth at random times while he's playing.
Too funny! Hope you enjoyed this small portion of what life is like with our sweet Caleb.

Happy St Patrick's Day

I guess they talked of St Patrick's Day at school because last night he asked me "is tomorrow Patrick's Day." I told him yes it's St. Patrick's Day and we're supposed to wear green. He then asked "well then will it be Spongebob Day next?" Those of you with kids may understand, apparently the only "Patrick" Caleb knows is Spongebob's best friend Patrick. It took me a minute to make the connection since we haven't seen Spongebob in ages. Caleb always keeps me thinking. He is always saying the funniest things and asking the most unusual questions. It has been so interesting to watch him grow and learn about the world. Lexie continues to grow and learn at an alarming rate as well. She does wonderful on her little gym floor mat grabbing her toys and talking to them. She constantly tries to roll over making it half way so far. She has also found spitting to be quite entertaining and has in fact taught some of her classmates this new technique of communication. She basically purses her lips tightly together and blows, which makes a most unlady-like sound and essentially spits. But it is pretty funny to watch. Her teacher said she and her friend Lily will use this form of communication during mat time.

Caleb on the Run

What a Saturday! Greg is out of town for a guy's weekend, so I talked my mother into staying an extra day while she was visiting on business. Caleb had his first soccer game today. He was so excited about the game and the birthday party that started directly afterwards. On the way out of daycare yesterday he stopped a mother of a younger child (I had no idea who they were and neither did Caleb) to let them know about our fun events today. We agreed that are kids had more of a social life than ourselves as apparently her son was also excited about a birthday party he was going to attend. Caleb did so good during the soccer game, they kept him in the entire game. I was so proud of him. Unfortunately the other team scored way more goals, but I'm not sure our kids new that, so it was fine. Caleb even scored a couple of goals for the other team himself. We're still learning. They were super cute, but unfortunately it was also super windy and cold. Lexie didn't like being wrapped up and left in the stroller so Mom had to take her to the car. I'm so thankful she was here to help me out. After the game, we headed to Southlake for the birthday party of Caleb's good friend at school. Caleb still had plenty of energy to burn, even after playing the entire soccer game. He had so much fun with all his school buddies. I'm exhausted now so I won't elaborate further. It was a good day overall, but I'll be glad when Greg's back in town.

Soccer Fun

This weekend we started Soccer. Caleb was so excited, informing everyone, mostly strangers, that he had soccer practice on Saturday morning. Greg had to buy him a new soccer ball and soccer socks with built in shin guards. Caleb was so proud. Too bad it was so windy Saturday so Lexie and I had to watch most of the practice from the car. But it looked like Caleb was having a great time and though he couldn't remember any of the kids names so far, he seemed to enjoy their company. I was even more excited when he didn't fight me over nap time later that afternoon, he was exhausted after all their running and kicking they did. After nap, "Aunt" Ginger and her son Dax came over to play. Lexie and Dax had some mat time together while Caleb desperately tried to entertain us. He put on his soccer uniform to give us a preview of his new soccer look. What a cutie! Later that afternoon while we were watching a movie, I noticed Caleb had gone toward the back door and was staying rather quiet. Unusual for Caleb. So I asked Greg to look over and see what he was up to. I was worried when Greg had a look of disbelief and horror on his face. Then he said "Caleb's peeing!" At first we were shocked and upset. I asked Caleb why he did that and he replied " I was trying to pee outside." Then it became rather humorous. Greg couldn't stop laughing, he said Caleb was trying to hold the doggy door open while peeing outside. Totally Greg's fault for teaching Caleb it's ok to pee outside. I then had to set some new rules. Boys! Lexie has been growing so fast as you can tell by her pictures. She is such a happy baby, and loves to laugh and coo. Her favorite time it seems is to have her diaper changed. She is always giggling when we change her diaper. That seems to be when Greg and her carry on most of their "conversations". She also enjoys bath time, especially when we dry her off in front the mirror so she can see her reflection. I think she wonders who that cute baby is looking back at her. It usually becomes a family affair with each of us divided among the kids to bathe or shower them. Caleb wanted to try out the towel wrap with me.

Swimming Lessons

Yesterday was my day off with the kids. Lexie got up a few times the night before, so Greg got up with Caleb and let me sleep in until 8 a.m. When I finally made a presence, I was informed the "Light man" was here to put in our new security motion lights. The "Light man" was super sweet and just happily went along with his new title. Caleb monitored his movements most of the morning. Then we enjoyed some painting and board games together while Lexie was entertained in her swing. Overall it was a wonderful day off with the kids. Last minute I tried to run some errands with Caleb which wasn't the best idea in hindsight. Caleb had his swimming lesson to get to at 7p.m. and Greg had to be at a parent soccer meeting at 6p.m. So I had to rush home to make a quick dinner, stuff Caleb with at least half of his plate, change Lexie, quickly nurse her, then throw them in the car to make it to swim lessons with 1 minute to spare. I was exhausted, and we are about to begin soccer too. What are we thinking! At least Caleb enjoyed his swim lessons. He had so much fun with his new teacher and cute little swimming partner. She had them going underwater and floating on their backs. I was surprised Caleb went along so easily with that, but I guess that's the benefit of someone else trying to teach him things.
