Fort Worth Stock Show 2011

We had a busy day at the Fort Worth Stock show today. We met up with our neighbors and their kiddos.
We started with the pony rides at the carnival which Lexie absolutely loved.
Then we wondered through the rest of the carnival to find rides all the kids could enjoy.
The boys really enjoyed the super big slide, especially Greg I think. The boys went on the bumper cars, a roller coaster, and a few more fun rides before they were finished.
Greg took Lexie and Ivy on the teacups. That was super cute, and a sight to see. Haha. Then we stopped for lunch before venturing out to see the animals on display.
The kids seemed to be most enthralled by the baby chicks we stopped to see.
The Lexie and the boys couldn't resist climbing on the big tractors before heading home.
It was a successful outing with friends.

Lexie's One Year Pictures

We had to reschedule Lex's one year pictures several times due to various sickness and bad weather, but today we finally were able to meet up with Jeanine to get them done. They turned out awesome! Lexie started the session in a good mood and mostly cooperative. But since it was close to nap time, she rebelled when we tried to get some pictures in a second outfit. Caleb really enjoyed climbing walls and trees around the area, but Jeanine coaxed him into some pictures too. Overall a success I think.

Lexie's Walking!

Lexie has been pulling up on everything for a while and would take a few unassisted steps at 12mo, but she just recently started walking more confidently now at 13mo. I'm so excited for her big accomplishment, but at the same time not ready for her to be so mobile. She is still very wobbly, so we seem to run into lots of things along our path. But she has not collected quite as many bruises as her Bubba did at this age thank goodness.
We signed Caleb up for basketball this season at his request, and he had his first game this Saturday. He has a lot to learn, but we have an awesome coach with lots of patience. Caleb really has enjoyed learning this new sport, though dribbling and walking seems to be tricky.
I am glad he likes basketball and hope he wants to continue it because it's my favorite sport!
I'm not sure why we spend so much money on toys when a laundry basket or empty jugs of milk work just as well.

Erin's Wedding

One of my younger cousins, Erin, was married this weekend. We had been looking forward to her wedding since it is rare we get to see the whole extended family. Unfortunately, Caleb came down with the flu Friday. He was so sad he missed the wedding since he loves to dance. And he missed out on playing with his cousins, Logan and Dylan. Greg volunteered to stay home with him so Lex and I could go to the wedding. I met up with my Mom and sisters at the hotel.
It was a beautiful wedding. Though I lost Lexie among the pews while we were waiting before the ceremony. I turned around and she was gone, I thought she would head down the aisle but I did not see her. And we looked for a good minute before we realized she had been crawling under each chair toward the front and had almost made it to the alter. It was hilarious. After the ceremony, we headed to the reception dinner and dance. The kids stayed upstairs with a babysitter to play, so I had the chance to mingle and catch up with family.
I got to see my aunts and uncles and lots of cousins I hadn't seen in a while. The band started up after dinner and we took to the dance floor.
We had such a wonderful time.My Mom even showed us up on the dance floor. Mike, brother -in-law, came down sick before the reception so only Rhett, my last brother-in law, was available to escort us girls. I don't think he had a problem with that.
It was wonderful to get to see everyone and hope it won't be too long until we get together again.
When I got home I found Caleb had made a quick recovery thanks to Tamiflu. He was thoroughly spoiled by Daddy with lots of movies and games so wasn't too sad about missing the wedding after all.

Bowling

Greg went hunting this weekend, so it was just me and the kiddos. My friend Kristen and her son Bo were going with friends bowling and invited us along. Caleb loves to bowl, but he thinks he needs no assistance so it can be scary. The smallest bowling ball is still 7 lbs and hits the floor very hard when he "throws" it. There were a few close calls with his misguided aims, but overall he did very well. There were 4 boys playing while we monitored the game. They had a good time, but were not done after bowling.
They headed for the arcade and games to have some more fun.
Lexie enjoyed riding the merry go round several times. Caleb always enjoys a game of air hockey. We really had fun with our friends.
Later that night we settled down in our PJ's for story time. Lexie loves books as much as Caleb and I so we have reading time as part of our nightly ritual. Caleb wanted to read her one of her favorite stories. They were so cute!
Caleb is getting good with the camera too. He wanted to capture our moment reading.
My silly boy!

Happy New Year!

Uncle Rhett and Aunt Dani came in to help us celebrate the New Year. The kids loved playing with uncle Rhett. Lexie always goes to him without hesitation which is unusual for her.
New Years Eve, we had a low key evening with the kids. We played games and watched the ball drop. Then went straight to bed.
Saturday night, we planned a night out on the town. Caleb was excited Meranda was coming over to babysit and was too ready for us to leave them to have fun.We took Dani and Rhett out to the Reata for an awesome meal.
The atmosphere was great, and we really enjoyed the food.
Then we headed over to Four Day Weekend to watch an improv comedy group. It was hilarious! I was very impressed. I would recommend it for a fun evening out. We were sad to see Uncle Rhett and Aunt Dani leave, but we had an awesome weekend of fun.
