Memorial Day Weekend/Caleb's broken arm

We headed to Brady for Memorial Day Weekend to hang with the family. We stopped on the way to attend my neice, Maegan's, high school graduation. I can't believe she is already going to college, it seems like not very long ago she was in elementary school telling me how a girl is not supposed to have the same boyfriend from year to year. We are very proud of her, I know she will have a bright future. The rest of the weekend was filled with wonderful food, conversation, and fun with the kids. Saturday we headed to the park with Gigi and Aunt Steph to have a picnic. Steph and I enjoyed the new park toys as much as Lexie and Caleb. Rock climbing was a big hit.
Daddy and Caleb enjoyed the view from above.Lex really enjoyed riding the horse.
Later when my nephews Dylan and Logan made it in town with their Dad, we headed back to the park to let the kids play.It started out well, the boys playing well together. And Lex enjoyed having attention from her older cousin Logan.
Then we had a small hiccup in our weekend fun when Caleb fell from a "zip line like" equipment at the local park. Greg had been pushing him along prior without problem, but then he lost is grip the last time while trying to gain his cousin's attention and fell. I knew something wasn't right when Caleb decided he just wanted to watch the rest of the kids play instead of join back in, and he wouldn't use his right arm. So off the the local ER for Xrays. He ended up with a slight fracture to the R forearm and had to wear a splint and sling for our journey back to the city.
We ended the weekend hanging out in the backyard while the kids played; the sling did not slow Caleb down.
Lex enjoyed showing off her new shades.
I wanted to take some pics of Greg and I before we headed out. Greg decided it needed to be silly pics, with my Brother in-law not taking his job as photographer serious either, I didn't have a chance.
Luckily I had the next two days off, so I was able to get him in Tuesday for a cast to have better support for my active son. The doctor said to keep him from climbing or running. I said " you do realize he is a four year old boy." He laughed and said good luck. It will be a long month!

Happy Birthday to Me

I had a wonderful birthday week. Greg has spoiled me rotten and the kids have been extra sweet.
Greg took me to dinner at Del Frisco's last night which was wonderful, but cut short due to scary weather in the area. We have a wonderful babysitter, but there had been tornadoes reported near our home, so we took dessert home instead. Caleb appreciated that since he helped us eat the huge chocolate cake we brought home. Today, my actual birthday, I started off with a massage compliments of Greg, then did some shopping, stopped for lunch with Greg, and then ended with a pedicure. My friend Kristen had made me some wonderful cupcakes, so after the "Happy Birthday" song from the kids and Greg, I made my wish and enjoyed the treat.I couldn't have asked for a better day. Thanks for all the Birthday wishes.

Lexie's Conversations

Lexie has been so verbal these last few weeks, lots of gibberish, but also a few recognizable words. She loves to get my attention by saying loudly "Momma" then I turn and ask what and she replies in gibberish but with a very serious face and tone, then I say "oh really, ok" and turn away. She will repeat this process over and over without getting bored until I can distract her. Too funny when we are around other people though. They find it very entertaining. She enjoys coloring with Caleb, or sometimes over Caleb's work. Lol!She still loves to read and has been repeating duck, bird, and points out many other animals she cannot say. And now she does much more than just "Moo" for all animals, she can "roar", "baa", bark, and make a fish face. I am so impressed by how fast she grasps things around her. Though I don't know why I am surprised, she is her mother's daughter. Lol! My Mom would probably take the credit too. Caleb has been so excited that she can actually play with him now. They can entertain each other for long periods now, with the occasional disagreements or injuries. But that's to be expected. Caleb really is very good with Lex.
He loves her very much, and gets very protective of his "Baby Lexie." Even when she gets in trouble by me or Greg, he gets very defensive. She's going to have a hard time with him when she's old enough to date, which makes Greg very happy.
Lexie seems to have a shoe fetish as well. She constantly lines all our shoes up in the middle of the kitchen. Or sometimes takes one shoe from each pair and deposits it somewhere. Greg gets frustrated often trying to find his other shoe on the way out of the house. Lol! It's usually in a toy box or laundry basket somewhere. Once he found his cell phone in the toy barbecue grill.

Birthday party fun

Caleb's friend Bo, had his birthday party today. It was at another bounce house place which Caleb always loves. The kids burned most of the energy climbing, jumping, and falling all over the inflatable toys.
Lex enjoyed the slides and some of the calmer bounce houses too.
Daddy was so not following the feet first rules! After lots of jumping, the kids danced with the lizard and then headed off for cake!
Lex was tuckered out before cake time even came around.
There was a bungee jump set up as well, and Caleb couldn't pass that up. He has become quite the pro at doing flips on that contraption.

Cake balls/Baseball

I am attempting to be more creative with my baking, so I thought I'd try making cake balls. My first event was Caleb's little league team since it was my turn for snacks after the game. I was very proud of my first attempt, and the boys seemed to like them. The baseball season was coming to an end, though Caleb had so much fun with all his good friends. We had a end of season pool party and cook out to celebrate. The coaches met up with everyone after the season was over to present their trophies.

Mothers Day

Mother's day was as always very special for me. I was treated to a day of luxury and sweet handmade cards of love from my family. I am so blessed to have such an awesome husband and 2 beautiful children. We celebrated at church, then spent a day of leisure at home. Greg and kids took me out for a wonderful dinner to end the day. Thank you God for blessing me with such a wonderful family.

Dinosaurs Unleashed

I now have the good fortunate of having 2 days off during the week, Tuesday and Wednesdays. Yesterday we started the day off at Little Gym for Lex, then took her to school so Caleb and I could run many errands. Then Caleb and I had lunch together, pizza at his request. It was weird not having Lex with us, but good bonding time for he and I. It was a productive day off. Today I took the kids to the zoo again. There was a new Dinosaur Unleashed exhibit, so Caleb was very excited.
They gave us a map showing where all the dinosaurs could be found within the zoo along with a picture of each dinosaur. Caleb was naming off all the dinosaurs he wanted to make sure and see. It was a wonderful day for our outing.Lex wasn't so sure about the dinosaurs at first when they started to roar, but by the time we made it to the T-Rex she was more excited than scared. We enjoyed feeding the birds, Caleb was excited to have the attention of two birds at one time.We couldn't skip the carousel of course and we got to enjoy the train ride back to the entrance.
On our way out Caleb stopped and said, "Mom we missed the Stegosaurus, I never saw it." I should of known he would notice missing one dinosaur.
