We went to our hometown for the fourth to let Caleb take part in some of the traditions surrounding the holiday weekend. The first night home, we took Caleb and his cousins to their first fireworks show. It was so cute watching the kids ooh and aah over the colors in the sky. Caleb was so loud shouting "wow" and "fireworks" over and over, we couldn't keep from laughing.

The next morning, we loaded up the family to watch the local parade downtown.

It was very hot, but the kids didn't seem to mind. My four year old nephew, Logan, and Caleb stood along the street waiting for candy to be thrown their way. They were so proud of their candy stash collected by the end of the parade.

Later we let the kids cool off with a dip in the pool. Dylan, my 21 month old nephew, was not as excited about getting wet. But of course Caleb was all about "simming" with his older cousin. Caleb followed Logan around the entire weekend copying everything he did and said. Monkey see, Monkey do!

He wasn't happy with us when it was time to get out. We smoothed things over with a trip for ice cream, then the park. It was a busy weekend, but as most know, little ones need constant entertainment. If not, we big people my suffer insanity.

The guys even found a new way to play Risk with an audience. Never a dull moment in our house.
Caleb really enjoyed hanging out with his cousins, entertaining his aunts and uncles, and being spoiled by his grandparents.
Now we need a vacation from our vacation!

Looks like a great weekend! I'm so jealous that you're close enough to drive home to see your family.
