Lexie 19 months

Lexie has become quite the chatterbox this past month. At 19 months, she absorbs everything she sees and hears. She reminds me of a parrot sometimes, repeating over and over something she just heard. Some of her new sayings are "uh oh, spaghetti-o " and "ready go". Though she seems to have a lot of negative words in her vocabulary such as "no no, don't, and stop". These words often preface Momma, Dadda, Bubba, or Monte. This week she has added the colors "red" and "blue" to the list. Sometimes getting the colors mixed up, but often is very accurate. I have to say I was very impressed. She is a very independent little girl. Never wanting to hold hands crossing the street, or getting help holding her food or drink; she always holds her own against Bubba too. Though they usually stay good pals, she'll give him a good slap if he crosses her.

Disney World Trip

We took a week long family vacation to Disney World in Florida for July 4th week with my parents. Caleb had been looking forward to it for a while, but I think Greg was secretly the most excited. Lol! We tried to plan out our week and which parks we wanted to visit before we went. It rained the first day we arrived, but then we were blessed with nice sunny weather. Mostly in the 70's and 80's with lots of humidity. But that didn't slow us down. We stayed at a beautiful resort with playgrounds and pools available to play in as well during our "downtime."
But most of the days were spent at one of the Disney parks. We were so excited to see all the Disney characters walking around the parks, and filled the kids autograph books by the weeks end. Lex wasn't so sure about Mickey and Minnie.
Probably because they were her first upclose characters on our first day. When we ate dinner with Pooh, Piglet, and Eeyore she was really friendly and involved.I was so glad for my parents help during our trip, but I think they had lots of fun too. Papa and Gigi had never been to Disney either.Greg and I took Caleb to one of the water parks one of the days there. He really enjoyed the wave pool and the big slides. Mom and Dad left a few days before we did, so we spent the last remaining days playing in the resorts pools, and made it to the Arabian Nights for dinner and a live performance.
We had a wonderful time and made precious memories. Can't wait to go back when Lexie is old enough to remember all the fun too!

Party at Gimme's

We met up with Greg's family at Gimme's house to celebrate Hehe's, Chance's, and Aunt Blair's birthdays. Caleb and Lexie had so much fun playing with their cousins. Uncle Jason and Greg got in big trouble with me after the "plan" to keep Caleb's cast dry while in the pool failed. That didn't slow the kids down though, they played all day and evening until they passed out on the way home. It was good to see everyone and hang out with family.

Lego Land

We met up with my friend Sarah, her mother, and her daughters Addison and Teresa at Lego Land.
Caleb was very excited to see his friends again, and to visit a new play place. Besides the long wait getting in, Lego Land was lots of fun for the kids.
There were places to climb and jump, places to build and race Lego cars, and 4-D mini movie, and even some fun rides to enjoy.Lexie really enjoyed being the center of attention at the Karaoke stage.
She stayed and sang through several songs.
I had her squeaky shoes on so was able to keep up with her fairly easily and still watch out for Caleb.
Lexie enjoyed digging through the thousands of Lego's available to play with, and Caleb ran into a another good buddy of his while we were there too.
It was an overall successful outing with lots of good memories captured.
It was time to call it quits when miss Lexie decided to throw her typical dramatic fit.
Naps were good!!!

Crazy Hair Day at Daycare/Bedtime Rituals

During the summer, daycare tries to make each week fun by having special days or themes to follow. Today was crazy hair day. Greg takes the kids most mornings so they can sleep in a little longer, so he had to "style" their hair.
He did a good job achieving the crazy do's. Of course by the time I picked them up their hair was just a matted mess. Not that they seem to mind. Both kids have acquired new bedtime rituals of late.
For the past 2 weeks, Caleb has decided to stay in his tent at night. We read a book by the light of his "lantern" then zip him up for the night. Sometimes the tent moves from his bedroom, to the playroom, or even occasionally to our room. One afternoon, I caught him even taking his nap in a laundry basket.
Not sure how comfy that was, but super cute. Lexie has actually let me rock her at times before bed, as long as I'm reading her a book. Then she insists on taking the book with her to bed. When I peek back in on her, she will be "reading" aloud (in gibberish) by the light of her night light while flipping through her book.

Caleb's Pre-K graduation

Caleb had his Pre-K graduation last night. He was sooo handsome in his red cap and gown. Before the big day he asked, "is my graduation going to be like Maegan's high school graduation." I said yes it's a lot like that. He said " will everyone find me afterward and get pictures with me" Yes. "Will I get a surprise too like Maegan?" Uhh, sure. So I had to make a trip to the store for a "super cool surprise" per Caleb's request. The ceremony was so cute with a song and poem performance by the kids. Then the diploma's were handed out individually.
Caleb was very proud. Lex was kept busy with snacks during the ceremony, but she handed it to me to clap for every kiddo who went on stage. She was especially happy when it was Caleb's turn. Gigi and Papa had come up for the big night as well. After the graduation, it was picture time. Caleb and his best friend Steed wanted several pictures together.
Then the rest of us was given the honor.
And I was informed that his gift was "kind of super cool". I guess I will have to work on that.
Tonight I met my to best friends from college for a girl's night out at Bob's Chop and Steak House. It was nice to catch up with my girls.

Day with Lexie

After a long weekend with the kids, I had planned to take them to school to get projects done around the house. When we arrived at daycare, one of the little boys in Lex's classroom was throwing up on the playground. I then decided maybe Lexie should stay home with me. Caleb stayed at school since he wanted to show off his new cast to his friends. I didn't get much done around the house with my adventurous Lex around, but we had a good bonding day. She brought almost all her books to me to read which is her favorite thing by far to do. She has learned more animal sounds and has said many more words. It amazes me how much she comprehends when I ask her to do or get something. We had a good time playing with her many toys and even ventured outside on the swing and slide for a while. The child is not scared of anything. We have gates set up around the fort outside, at the stairs, and have to keep the doggy door blocked or she would be up and down where she should not be. Even with all our blockades, she still will be on top of the table or highchair if you turn your back on her. Lex is super fun when she is in a good mood, or as long as she gets her way.
But she can get an attitude when crossed. In fact while we were visiting my brother and sister in law, she was being a toot and throwing a fit. I told her she had s serious attitude issue, and she looked at me and said "Unh unh" with emphasis. What a mess! What will the teenage years be like I wonder.
