Caleb's 5th Birthday Party

Caleb wanted a Star War themed birthday party this year. He was particularly fond of Yoda and requested a Yoda cake. I couldn't imagine having an ugly green face as a birthday cake, so we compromised and had Yoda put on a Star Wars cake.

My friend Kristen from work and her neighbor made an awesome cake for us. Caleb was very excited. We had the party at a local gymnastics place and the kids had lots of fun.

They jumped on trampolines, played games on the gym floor, and even swung from a rope into a pit of soft blocks.

I really wanted to try that, but refrained. Not so with Greg, he used the excuse that he had to get in with Lexie.

Just before cake and ice cream, we were visited by Chewbacca who handed out light sabers to everyone.

I was worried about the boys getting too rowdy with the sabers, but it was the girls who had the sword fight. Lol!

Caleb had such an awesome time, and received lots of great gifts. Thanks everyone for making his big day special!

Museum/Taekwondo

We were sitting at the dinner table last night talking to Caleb about his day and he continued to change his topics quickly, but he had us hesitating over the question " why can't boys carry babies in their tummies?" I let Greg answer that one. That's my random man.

Today I took the kids to the museum. Caleb wanted to see a movie at the Imax. We decided on the Wild Ocean. Lexie entertained herself by putting her milk in one cup holder, and her bag of cheerios in the other. And she continued to grab one and put it back and repeat with the other, with the occasional clapping and "yeah" when the screen would fade out and then in between scenes.

Then we headed to the dinosaur gallery, or "saurs" as Lexie would say. She would "wow" all the different exhibit displays;they both enjoyed the big dinosaur footprint.

We had some outside time with the water dams. But it was too hot to stay out there long.

Caleb loved the old communicating tube of the B-36 Peacemaker bomber and Lexie's favorite was the giant Light Brite exhibit.

Baby talk

When I picked the kids up from daycare today, Lex was in a "talkative" mood. She would say "Bubba" then speak gibberish as if she was telling him something important. Caleb responded rather arrogantly "Lexie, I don't understand baby talk. Ask Momma." Lex wasn't deterred, she looked at me then said "Momma" and told me her important story in gibberish instead. I just agreed whole heartedly with her. Lol! Don't let Caleb fool you though, because he loves his Lexie.

I found him one morning reading a story to her while she was waiting for us to come get her up. Here is the pair dressed up for western day at school.

Happy Birthday Greg!

We celebrated Greg's 35th birthday today. It was my day off so, after swim lessons, the kids and I headed to Greg's office to take him to lunch. We stopped and got him a plant for his new office along with a bunch of happy birthday balloons per the kids request. Gigi had a huge chocolate cake delivered to Greg's office, so I was off the hook for baking. I did get a babysitter for the kids and took Greg out to eat at his favorite place, the Reata. We enjoyed a yummy dinner then headed to the movies. We had a wonderful time on our date. Happy Birthday Greg!

Busy Weekends

We've been busy these past 2 weekends. First we had a my college friends and their families over for a cookout and to get the kids together. I can't believe how far we've come from our college days. We have been blessed with such beautiful babies! It's fun watching them grow up together.

This past weekend we headed to Gigi and Papa's house. Lexie enjoyed playing tea with Papa, Caleb enjoyed hanging out with Uncle Rhett. And Greg and I had fun loving on our niece Maggie.

Lexie 19 months

Lexie has become quite the chatterbox this past month. At 19 months, she absorbs everything she sees and hears. She reminds me of a parrot sometimes, repeating over and over something she just heard. Some of her new sayings are "uh oh, spaghetti-o " and "ready go". Though she seems to have a lot of negative words in her vocabulary such as "no no, don't, and stop". These words often preface Momma, Dadda, Bubba, or Monte. This week she has added the colors "red" and "blue" to the list. Sometimes getting the colors mixed up, but often is very accurate. I have to say I was very impressed. She is a very independent little girl. Never wanting to hold hands crossing the street, or getting help holding her food or drink; she always holds her own against Bubba too. Though they usually stay good pals, she'll give him a good slap if he crosses her.

Disney World Trip

We took a week long family vacation to Disney World in Florida for July 4th week with my parents. Caleb had been looking forward to it for a while, but I think Greg was secretly the most excited. Lol! We tried to plan out our week and which parks we wanted to visit before we went. It rained the first day we arrived, but then we were blessed with nice sunny weather. Mostly in the 70's and 80's with lots of humidity. But that didn't slow us down. We stayed at a beautiful resort with playgrounds and pools available to play in as well during our "downtime."
But most of the days were spent at one of the Disney parks. We were so excited to see all the Disney characters walking around the parks, and filled the kids autograph books by the weeks end. Lex wasn't so sure about Mickey and Minnie.
Probably because they were her first upclose characters on our first day. When we ate dinner with Pooh, Piglet, and Eeyore she was really friendly and involved.I was so glad for my parents help during our trip, but I think they had lots of fun too. Papa and Gigi had never been to Disney either.Greg and I took Caleb to one of the water parks one of the days there. He really enjoyed the wave pool and the big slides. Mom and Dad left a few days before we did, so we spent the last remaining days playing in the resorts pools, and made it to the Arabian Nights for dinner and a live performance.
We had a wonderful time and made precious memories. Can't wait to go back when Lexie is old enough to remember all the fun too!
