Chuck E Cheese

I didn't have anything planned for my day off with the kids today. Midmorning Caleb was asking if we could go do something fun like go to the zoo or the museum again. Since it was so close to lunch and Lex's naptime, I suggested we head to Chuck E Cheese's for lunch. The response I got was priceless. Caleb said, with awe in his voice, "Oh thank you, thank you. You are the best Mom ever." That made it totally worth going to my not so favorite kids place.I usually don't like to go there because of the crowd, but apparently a weekday is the optimum time. We were one of four families present. The kids were able to play all the games they wanted twice, eat pizza, and celebrate with cheap prizes. Who could ask for more. And all of that earned me "Mom of the Year". Caleb cleaned the playroom and living room once we got home, without me asking him to. He told me he thought it would make me happy.
I need to take this child to Chuck E Cheese more often! Lexie enjoyed the outing too. She enjoyed seeing Chuck E from a distance, but didn't want to get too close to the big mouse. She loved all the rides. She slept most of the afternoon afterward while Caleb and I played Candy Land. Later Lex and I got some bonding time in while Greg took Caleb to Taekwondo. She wanted to use her stroller to push her baby around in, then found Caleb's dinosaurs attacking me saying "roar, roar". After she was through with the dinos, she "tucked them in" patting them on the back and saying night night. She even picked one up and sang "Rock a bye baby" to it. One difference between boy playing with dinosaurs and girls. Lol! It was a good day.

Soccer/ Fun with the John's

Caleb had another soccer game today. He has been doing very well, learning teamwork and how to control the ball better. It is interesting to watch sometimes, since some of the boys get easily distracted or are off playing with each other while the opposing team passes them by to make a goal. Silly boys.

Later we headed to my good friend Ginger's house to hang out the the fam and watch Tech and the Rangers play, we had to have both games going of course. The kids had lots of fun with Justin's parents. They played some football and enjoyed the slide too. It was a fun evening with yummy food and good company.

Lex goes to the ER

Greg went to the lease this weekend to get some things done before hunting season. So the kids and I were going to have a leisure weekend. Wrong! Things were going well, the kids were playing together in the fort in the backyard. I noticed Caleb pulling Lex's arms to help, or drag, her up the slide. I warned him not to pull on her arms it could hurt her. "Ok Mommy". Then back to my book. Next thing I know Lex is running to me holding her arm to her side. "Bubba did it". I knew then he must have "helped" her up the slide again. I thought to console her and we would be good. But she was inconsolable, and continued to hold her arm to the side. After almost an hour, I decided it was time to go to the ER and make sure nothing was broken, and fix the most likely nursemaid elbow. After 2 hours in the ER with Xrays and second opinions, we were wrapped tight in the arm splint and sling. So much for the enjoyable weekend with the kids!!! Greg owes me a nice long girl's weekend.

Playmates

Lexie has started saying hello and bye bye to everything. I have started putting her on the potty to get used to the idea, so when we enter the bathroom she says "Hi potty" and when we are done she says" bye bye potty". Hi bath, bye bye bath. It is so cute and funny. She also continues to point out her colors everywhere. Cars, peoples shirts, bushes.... Caleb likes to "help" her vocabulary too. Having her repeat all kinds of words and phrases. "Poopy" seems to be a popular one we are constantly having to correct. They are playing so well together now, Caleb always telling Lex to "come on" lets go. She runs along after copying everything he does. I remember when Caleb used to ask, "when is Lexie going to be big enough to play with me". Well I guess that time has come, but I wonder how soon he will be complaining about lil sister always interfering. I guess I'll enjoy this time for now.

Soccer Again/ Mikah's Party

Caleb played in his first Soccer game of the season Saturday. He did an awesome job, we were very proud. He scored a couple of goals, and had several assists. I was proud of his teamwork, since previously he preferred to keep the ball to himself. Lol! He has grown so much. Lexie was a great cheerleader often clapping and yelling "kick the ball bubba". It was pretty cute. Later that evening we headed to our friend Mikah's first birthday party. Dakota and Caleb enjoyed hanging out together. They cooked out at a local park. The kids had a blast playing in the large playground. Lexie really enjoyed her cake! We finally had to drag them away from all the fun.

Labor Day Weekend 2011

I had to work a few hours Saturday, but later Greg and I took the kids to Hawaiian Falls water park for some fun. The kids had a great time riding the "waves", going down water slides, and relaxing in the lazy river. Then Greg cooked out on his new grill and we had a relaxing evening. Sunday we had a leisurely day at home after church. Greg cooked out again, and the weather was awesome. Not so hot for once. Today we took the kids to Main Event so Caleb could go bowling again. Apparently that was his birthday wish, so we made sure it came true. It's been a nice weekend with the family.

Girls Weekend/Boys Weekend

We had a mini-vacation this week. Lexie and I took off for Brady to hang out with my sister Dani. We had a great time hanging out and playing with my baby niece Maggie and catching up with Rhett and Dani. We couldn't pass up taking a few cute pictures of the girls.

We did get to hang out with Papa and Gigi some too. Lex really took to Papa this trip. She would run to him as soon as he showed up, and insisted that he play with her and her new baby doll. It was amusing to watch.

Meanwhile, Greg and Caleb headed to the lease for some boy time. They did all kinds of "manly" things getting prepared for the upcoming hunting season. I think Greg took my comment about Caleb needing to wear plenty of sunblock overboard

Caleb said he had lots of fun on the four wheeler and camping out with Daddy. Yesterday Caleb headed back to school for a fun day with his friends. Last night I was asking how his new class and teacher was, and he told me all about how he and a select few of his friends didn't get in trouble because they "chose to make good choices and listen". He was supposed to be getting a book for me to read him, when I reminded him of his mission he said "I was too busy telling you how I made good choices and what happens to those who make bad choices." Who is this child that I have to redirect on a daily basis at home, and yet he is an angel at school?
