Caleb and School/Lexie's Silly talk

Caleb started off not a fan of school. He would cry and tell me "You can't make me go" the evenings before bed.  They have a color system at school on behavior, and he would get below the average green at least once or twice a week which was worrisome to me. He was very tired and whiney about having to get up so early, even though we would try to get to bed early each night. The last few weeks have finally turned around as he gets into a better routine, and learned there a rewards for good behavior and consequences for poor behavior. He tells me now though that he likes to sleep, and rarely gives me trouble at bedtime now. As for Lexie, she loves her new Preschool class. She is talking so much more in fun conversations and loves to "read" us stories every night. The funniest thing I've heard from Lexie recently was "look Mommy, my bottom wriggled when I tooted" LOL! She is shy with strangers, but engages when she warms up to people. So different than Caleb was at that age. I love watching the differences in both my babies as they grow. Parenting is such a gift.

Caleb's First Day of Kindergarten/6th Birthday

Today was the first day of Kindergarten for Caleb as well as his 6th birthday. It was a big day for him. Greg and I walked him to his class to show him the way and re-introduce his teacher to him, Mrs. Miller. She seemed very sweet and I was excited he was going to have someone nice and caring. Caleb did good until right before we were about to leave, then he was nervous and wanted to go home with us. I almost cried then, but was proud I stayed strong for him. I can't believe he is old enough to be in kindergarten, time is going by way too fast. Today was also Greg and my 8th wedding anniversary, so we celebrated by eating lunch together and reminiscing on the years. This evening we let Caleb decide where he wanted to have dinner, so it was no surprise when he picked Joe's Crabshack. Hehe and Chance met us to help celebrate at dinner. Caleb wanted to go there because he likes to dance, but when they put him on the spot to ride the stick horse and dance, he got shy and just stood there and smiled. So different than his younger self already. Lol! We had a successful day overall.

Caleb's Angry Bird Birthday Party

Caleb wanted to have the Angry bird theme for his 6th birthday party. We picked the Urban Air Trampoline Park to have his party with several of his close friends.

The started with some mild jumping on the trampoline squares, with even Lexie and Daddy getting in on the fun. Then the boys went wild all over the inside park. They had lots of fun, but were often stopped to be reminded of the rules by their staff which I tried not to laugh at. I think all the boys were hearing was "blah, blah, blah." The highlight of the party for the boys was the Dodge ball game.

I went inside the game area with them to get some pictures and was a little nervous once the balls started flying. I'm not sure who was having more fun, the kids or the dads. We finally had all the fun we could stand, and stopped for pizza and cake. Our friend Kristen did an amazing job on the Angry Bird Cake.

I'm so glad everyone got to come and take part in his special occasion. We hauled his present lute home for him to open there.

He was very appreciated of al the goodies given.

Lex's first fish catch

Greg wanted to include Lex in the fishing experience he and Caleb love, so we planned to go to Cabela's dock to try our luck. This morning as we were getting ready to go Greg asked if Lexie was ready to go fishing. And she said " Yes, I want a red fishing pole". Greg replied "How about a yellow and red one." At which Lex said "No Daddy. I need a cute color". Greg was horrified at how girlie she is at even 2 years old. We went shopping one day and she grabbed some shorts that she thought I might like saying "Look Mommy, these are too cute." Lol!

Once we got to the docks, she was very excited to hold the fishing pole (even though it was red and yellow) and gave fishing a good 30min in which she caught 3-4 small perch. Then she told us she was done. At least she knows her mind. Caleb did awesome too. He was baiting his own line and caught several fish too. It was a nice family outing, even though it got way to hot fast.

Lexie's Big Girl Bed

We recently transitioned Lex into her toddler bed. She was sooo excited to be in her "big girl bed". I haven't been as excited since she gets up at least 2-5 times each night to get something, or tell us something, or just challenge us. But once she's in it she stays all night and calls for us in the morning.

She continues to be very negative replying "no" to every request we make. Though sometimes she decides she agrees with us and says "actually I do want to.." . I think she just has to do everything on her own terms. We recently went to eat dinner with Shae, Joby, and their boys. She bossed the boys, especially the younger Mikah, around all night. Not sure where she gets that. Lol! Caleb often tries to be sweet and loving to her, and most of the time she does not reply in a loving way telling him "no Bubba" or "go away". I hope its just a short phase she is going through.

Lexie's 1st Dance Recital

Lex had her 1st dance recital today. I was nervous for her on the big stage, wondering if she would even go out on the stage. Last week she had the practice recital and hardly did any of the moves, mostly holding her skirt in her mouth.

Today she not only got up on stage looking so precious, but she also did the entire dance. 2 little girls had run off the stage crying before it started, but Lex just smiled after she found us in the audience. I was so proud of her, maybe the stage is her calling. We couldn't take pictures during the dance, but we got an awesome DVD of her awesome performance.

Caleb told Lex he thought she was the best one out there.

Greg had bought her flowers for after the performance, she loved them. Hehe and Chance had come to watch too, and we all celebrated with pizza afterward.

Rangers game

We got a chance to go to the Rangers game with Caleb. We surprised Hehe for her birthday present too. Rangers Captain, the mascot, tried to eat my poor baby. Then decided to let him stay and watch the rest of the game. I think Caleb's favorite part about the baseball games is getting to eat all the junk food they offer.
