Just Another Weekend

We had a fun filled weekend as usual. Aunt Brooke (HeHe to Caleb) came over to hang out Friday evening. Caleb always loves to entertain guests, he was dancing, and jumping the whole time she was here. We had a nice time catching up.
Saturday was Little Gym again. Caleb preferred to do his own thing that day, he didn't want to participate much with the group. He has his days.
We had to stay out of the house most of the day because of potential buyers looking at our house, so after lunch and minimal napping, off we went to Bonkers. Bonkers, as some may have seen from previous blogs, is a huge indoor playarea. It has a maze of all kinds of slides and mats to jump on and climb to say the least. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, Greg or Caleb. They covered the entire play area in an hour. It was fun watching all the dads following their kids through this maze of entertainment.
Today we were lazy. We stayed in after church and relaxed with cartoons, books, and building blocks. I felt like we had enough sun this week. After dinner, Greg thought it would be relaxing to take a walk. I'm not sure relaxing describes it, but entertaining might.
Caleb had to walk Monte without our help of course. He also insisted on wearing my hat to do so. In the end, I think it was more Monte walking Caleb. Caleb would run after Monte holding his leash trying to stay up with him.
But every few feet Caleb would be destracted by a stick, or rock, or something just as interesting, and drop his leash. Once he realized his error he would say "oh no" and run after monte. It was hilarious. He continously was saying "no Monte" trying to get control of the situation. Needless to say it was a long walk.

Day off with Caleb

Today was my day off with Caleb. We met up with Sarah, Teresa, and Addison at the pool this morning. It was a very hot day!
Caleb loved the water like always. He enjoyed going down the slide over, and over, and over again. He doesn't hesitate to jump right in the middle of all the fun, which scares me.
We had a busy morning, but we weren't through socializing. Later we went to see Shae, Dakota, and Trae.
We walked over to the nearby park. Trae and Caleb held hands while they walked and babbled back and forth to each other as if they were carrying on a serious conversation. It was so funny! Who knows, maybe they did understand each other.
We enjoyed seeing and playing with all our friends today. Thanks for all the fun!

Crazy Hair Day

Caleb's daycare has a different theme daily to make the summer time fun. Today was crazy hair day, so Greg fixed Caleb's hair before school.
The teachers loved it and Caleb was so proud when I dropped him off. All the kids were so cute with their crazy styles. I'm so relieved Caleb is doing so well at school and loves the kids and teachers there. It is so hard to leave him with someone else to care for him each day, but I have such peace of mind knowing Caleb loves his "school". His vocabulary is growing so fast, he is always surprising me with another word he's learned. He mimics the funniest things too. Today he went around saying "aah man" . I'm pretty sure daddy says that often. We're trying to be careful with what we say around him since he speaks so clearly now. It's scary. He is also learning his numbers. He is able to count to 13 now, skipping a few numbers here and there. Unfortunately it is interfering with my warning count. I sometimes count to 3, giving him a chance to stop whatever he is not supposed to be doing, which actually worked in the past; but now he just says "4, 5, 6... After that I lose all control of the situation because I start laughing.
Monte and Caleb are big buds. Monte is so protective of Caleb, he'll even bark at Greg if he thinks he's playing too rough with Caleb. (I promise I had nothing to do with that.) He'll sit and watch cartoons with Caleb, and of course a good nap is always nice. I love that they are such good friends.

Poor Monte

Yesterday Caleb was trying to ride Monte again. Surprisingly, he listened to me and got off our poor dog when told no. Then he asked "mouse ride?" so I said sure Mickey Mouse could ride. I felt sure Monte would be ok with my decision given a choice of riders.

Today Shae came over with Dakota and hung out for a few hours. Unfortunately, Shae got to experience some of our terrible two bouts.
Caleb wasn't excited about sharing his bumbo seat with Dakota, even though he hasn't been able to utilize it for almost a year now. He enjoyed tormenting me with "no mama" several times when asked to stop disobeying me in one way or another. Time out didn't work this time.
Caleb finally made up with Dakota though, forgiving him for taking his center of attention I'm sure. We did have some good times today too. We read several books, rode his bike, and collected sticks outside while wandering the neighborhood (the last one was Caleb's idea of fun).

Monkey Mask

Caleb was so excited when I picked him up at daycare today. They had made Monkey Masks and he wanted to wear it right away. He walked around the house with it on saying ooh ooh aw! It was pretty adorable. He is a big fan of animals. My favorite animal he imitates is the shark though. He'll put is hands on his head like a fin and say "duh dunt duh dunt", while he wiggles his whole body! We're taking him to Sea World this summer, I can't wait to see his face when he sees the dolphins and whales. He is partial to marine life like his mommy.

Father's Weekend

Greg decided it should be Father's weekend instead of just "day", so we let him plan the weekend activities. Saturday we went to little gym to tumble and play. Caleb enjoyed having daddy there to help with all the activities. There were so many more people there than on thursday, but i think caleb enjoyed playing with the bigger variety of kiddos. Then we headed to the Carrollton pool again!

I let Greg and Caleb do the swimming, it was nice not to get into the cold water. It doesn't seem to phase the kids though. Caleb's favorite thing at the pool is the slides! He and Greg went down them over and over again. I swear Caleb probably swallowed half the pools water, which I really don't want to think about. Caleb was sad when we made him leave, but thoroughly exhausted, which was the idea. We got Caleb's haircut at Cool Cuts later in the day, his hair is so thick and grows fast like mine. He does pretty good if he gets to sit in their cool car and watch cartoons. We ended the day with our lifegroup where we had great fun and fellowship for almost three hours. Today, actual father's day, Caleb and I made pancakes (and his favorite brownies for later in the day), while daddy slept in an extra hour. After church we took Greg to Dave and Busters to eat and play games. (Why is it that we eat so much more when were celebrating something?)
This evening Shae, Joby, and Dakota came over to cook out with us. (Again eating!) Caleb and Dakota watched Monsters Inc. on the elmo couch. We enjoyed their visit, in fact Caleb really wanted to go home with them. He was actually sad when we made him come back inside with us. I was surprised, though I am sure it had something to do with the fact we had told him it was bed time. Wow, what an exciting weekend!

Chatterbox

Caleb is quite the chatterbox now. His gibberish is decreasing so actual words make the conversations fun. Though not quite correct, we get what he's trying to say. Like when he wants an "awful "(waffle) for breakfast. He has really progressed with his colors too. Last week he only understood blue and yellow appropriately, now he also knows green, pink, orange, red, and white. He is constantly pointing out colors of other people's shirts, food he is eating, or animals he sees. Now we our trying to help him with the alphabet. It's so funny because he says "C-cow", and "D-dog" whenever he points those animals out.
Today we went to the Carrollton pool. We had a blast with the slides and toys in the toddler pool. I was very impressed, and I think Caleb was too. We also have a new favoite movie, Monsters Inc. He's watching monsters scare kids, and he loves it. Such a boy!
