More fun with friends

Sunday Caleb went to Claire's birthday party, a friend from daycare and church. They were so cute playing together. Everytime they see each other, they run together for hugs.
Caleb loved all the fun activities at gymboree. He was all over the place. I think he was the only kid who preferred fruit over cupcakes, I am so proud. (I ate his cupcake.) We had a very busy and social weekend. Obviously Caleb doesn't lack in friends.
Tonight Grandma came in town for business and brought Monte home. (Grandpa was dogsitting while we were on vacation.) Caleb was so excited to see Monte, and Grandma of course.
We had to clean up for Grandma's visit. I promise we don't make Caleb do our chores inside and out, but he loves to help especially with the vacuum.
He has always been fascinated by the device since he could crawl and chase the light. He can't stand things not put away, or doors being left open. I won't deter him from helping out while he's willing.

Splash party!

We had a fun, but hot Saturday. First thing in the morning was little gym. Always good exercise. He is interacting more with the other children and teacher now which is nice. His favorite activity is the bars. He loves to pull himself up and then jump. Such a boy. Then he helped dad around the yard. Don't worry mother, I didn't let him help mow. He loves utilizing the water hose though.
Later we went over to Teresa's splash party for swimming and lots of water fun. Caleb had a blast, constant go, go, go for 4 hours. We had a great time catching up with friends, and meeting new friends while cooking out and watching the kids play. Later ,after we got Caleb dry and dressed, we were headed out the back when Caleb dove into the pool. Fully clothed. I guess he wasn't done playing. He's such a mess! We had a good laugh though.
Ken sacrificed himself under the hose for the cause. Caleb loved laying in the hammock, who could blame him with such cute girls around. They sat there being fed fruit while Greg rocked them. Must be nice to be treated like royalty. So spoiled!
Caleb made some great new friends.

More of Caleb

We had a trying time yesterday on our day off together. Everything was negative. Caleb didn't like anything I prepared to eat, didn't like my activities, didn't want to nap, and so it went through the morning. I asked him in frustration if he wanted to go back to school instead, he said yes. Not what I expected. So in the afternoon I recruited small people. We went to hang out with Shae, Trae, and Dakota. He continued with "no mommy", but he at least had fun with Trae. Today was much better. He actually wanted to hang out with me. We went for a walk after dinner, gathering sticks of course. Caleb also likes to find the dragon flies out in the yard, and watch for airplanes in the sky since were not far from DFW.
Later Caleb was enjoying jumping up and down on my tummy, when he jumped too far forward and landed on the carpet. No serious injuries, but Caleb was not happy with the "ground". He ventured over to the landing zone and slapped the carpet saying "no, no ground". We tried not to laugh, but it was pretty cute.

We just tucked in Caleb. He doesn't like night, night time, so we have a ritual at bedtime to get him to sleep. First both Greg and I must be present. Next we have to say our prayers, then a group hug at least 3 or 4 times, lastly kisses of course. After that Caleb is good and kicks us out saying "bye, bye mommy", "bye, bye daddy." I love it!

Fun with Caleb

I'm beginning to think Caleb is not going to be a morning person. All week I've had to wake him for school, which is unusual. I said "It's time to get up", and he replies with the now common "no mommy". I said you want to go back to sleep, "yeah". Not what was expected. He goes to bed shortly after 8pm, so I know he gets plenty of sleep. I guess we are just going through a phase. When he gets to school, he's fine. He loves his teachers and his best friend Lucas. He's always so excited to show me his school projects. Today was dinosaur art, one of his favorite subjects. Greg had to take a class today, so Caleb and I had dinner alone. He is becoming very particular with what he'll eat. Mostly only chicken and fruit. An occasional veggie, depending on his mood. It's challenging trying to come up with new ideas for chicken.
Caleb is also becoming interested in the toilet. Mostly to sit on it and flush the toilet over and over. But when he says he needs to pee pee, I try to accomodate and keep up the interest. Maybe we'll get lucky and get this potty training stuff over sooner than usual. Though one day last week he refused to put his diaper back on, so I thought maybe he can let me know before he needs to go easier without a diaper. I've been told that's one way to try. So I continuously asked him if he needed to potty every few minutes. "No, mommy" was the repeated response. Until "uh oh pee pee". Luckily he was on the tile floor. Needless to say, I convinced him to put his diaper back on.

Haircut

Caleb got his shortest haircut to date yesterday. Obviously he was only half awake this morning. He wasn't in the mood for a picture. I know because he said "No mommy, no picure ". He looks like such a big boy now. He is growing up too fast. We can carry on conversations, slightly broken, but well enough to get our points across. I love it! Though I do miss the cuddle times when he was a baby. He hates to be confined now. I have to negotiate for hugs. Oh how I do love being a mommy!

Family Vacation

We've had a busy week. We started out with a birthday party for Greg's cousin at the Fort Worth Zoo. Caleb did not start out on his best behavior, but he finally joined in the fun and especially enjoyed seeing his favorite animals. It was nice to visit with some of Greg's family and catch up on the last few years.

Then it was off to meet up with my family at Dani's, my little sis, house in San Antonio. My older sis Steph and her husband brought their kiddos, and of course Mom was there to share in the fun. Poor Dad had to stay behind and be responsible.
We took the kids to Sea World which was awesome. They loved the shows with the dolphins and divers at the beginning of our day. It was amazing watching the divers interact with the animals.

Then off to see Shamu, or "Samoon" as Caleb would say. His little face was so cute to watch when the whales flew from the water. That was my favorite show.

We didn't have time to see all the sites after the shows, but we did enjoy the some of the water park, petting the dolphins, and viewing the sharks just to name a few.

I think overall we had a successful day at Sea World!
The rest of the week we hung out by the pool, park, and Dani's backyard. It was nice to be lazy. Caleb loved having Dylan and Logan to hang out with all week.
Yes, it was a great week. Now back to the real world.

"No Mommy"

We've had a busy week. We're still looking for a house, so most of my nights have been looking online. Caleb has had a rough time too. I'm not sure why. He has been very disobedient this week, and very negative. I have heard "no mommy", "no monte"(dog), he even said "no sun" on the way to school one day because it bothered him. *************************************
Yesterday we went to the park with the long Dragon surrounding it's perimeter. He loved it, though he called it a dinosaur. He went up and down its walls, played on the slide, and rode the "horsie." We had a great time and were both ready to collapse when we left.
*************************************
He is such a boy! Today he was standing on the couch and jumped to me, good thing I had quick reflexes since no warning was given. Well I needed to go upstairs, so I left Greg in charge with the directions of "don't let him jump off the couch." On my way upstairs, I watch as Caleb stands and proceeds to jump off the couch landing on his bottom. Granted Greg and I yelled stop, it was too late. He was stunned for a few seconds, then he realized that it hurt and cried. But a few moments later he wanted to do it again. I give up!
*****************************************
This week he has been reading some of his stories to me. It was so funny, he had "Green Eggs and Ham" open and as he flipped through the pages he said "no ham, no eggs sam am". It's nice to know he pays attention. He also reads "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" fairly well. I love that he is so
interested in books.
**************************************
They had princess and prince day at school. He liked to wear his crown. I'm not sure we needed a day to remind them how spoiled they are and how much power they have over us.
