Anniversary/Birthday!

Today is Greg and my 4 year anniversary and Caleb's actual birthday! Unfortunately Greg had to be out of town for business and will not be back until late tonight. That's ok we'll celebrate this weekend, but tonight Caleb and I are going out to celebrate with "aunt" Gin and "aunt" Shae Shae. Caleb ended up in bed with us half way through last night, so he woke me this morning with "i wanna play with choo choo train." He loves his new trains. I told him it was too early and to go back to sleep, that didn't work. So up we went. I asked Caleb if he knew it was his birthday, and he replied " i eat cake." I think they celebrated yesterday at daycare because they knew he'd be out today. He knows how to sing the "happy birthday" song, so we have sang that over and over. Caleb and I went for an early run this morning which Caleb was way too excited about, then we had our neighbor Andrew over to play. They enjoyed playing with Caleb's new birthday toys.
Here are some pics from last week. Caleb has found an interest in baseball like daddy.
I took him outside to pitch him the ball, and after one demo of how to swing the bat, he was swinging like a natural. I told Greg on the phone Caleb was hitting the ball, and he asked what I was using as a tee, and I told him no I am pitching him the ball and he hits it most of the time! Greg was sooo excited, he continued to play with Caleb when he made it home. I am a little concerned because Greg is already trying to critique and correct Caleb. Here he told Caleb to get his elbow up. He was briefly distracted from the game when our neighbor Colt came by on his awesome bike. Then Caleb told Greg, I want my bike daddy. So up and down the sidewalk he went with his cool, older friend.
Caleb's school sent home new backpacks for the kids. It's a battle to get it off when he gets home now. Even with bath time last night he felt he really needed his backpack. It took some convincing to discourage that need.

Happy Birthday Caleb!

We have been busy busy! Caleb had his 2 y.o. birthday party this weekend at Little Gym. His actual birthday is the 28th, but I have always believed in birthweeks, not just a single day of celebrating, just ask Greg. Finding Nemo was the theme, I know your shocked. Little Gym is a great place to just let kids go wild. Caleb was dancing and jumping all over the place with his buddies it was very cute. He blew out the candle on his cake, but don't let that fool you because he didn't touch it. He did ask for "more watermelon pease."
It was great to have family and friends present to help celebrate, though I'm sorry I didn't get to catch up with everyone for very long. I know Caleb had such a wonderful time.
He had lots of his friends present to help celebrate. I think we parents were more exhausted than the kiddos. *****************************************
Greg and I bought him the Thomas and Friends table and track. He was so excited when he saw the table. We couldn't drag him away.
He loved all his presents from the party too! So many great gifts. We definitely need a bigger house now! The party didn't stop there. We had cousins in to play with, so out with the pinata!

We were all exhausted but since we rarely get to hang out, we stayed up late with the boys. Today we introduced Logan and Dylan to Bonkers before ending our visit. What a birthweek celebration! And it's just starting!

Caleb was busy putting his new toys to use this afternoon. He was scolding Thomas (the train) for not doing what he wanted him to do. But I think they worked it out.

Running with Caleb

Hi everyone. It has been a busy time for us trying to sell our house and find a new one, so I haven't had a chance to blog. This past weekend we had to get everything together for Caleb's party next Saturday. The big 2! We are very excited, actually Caleb has no idea or is that concerned. I know he'll have fun though. Lately he has been very chatty, mostly being very demanding and bossy. But he has been using complete sentences which is fun. His new saying when he wants me to pick him up is "mommy i want to hold you."
I announced I was going running after work, and Caleb started shouting "I go running mom." He gathers his things and pulls me to the jogging stroller. So "we" went "running". I think he will get a rude awakening when he realizes the true meaning of run in the future. Talk about resistance training though, and he always wants me to go faster.

What a Day!

Wednesday's Greg takes Caleb to school because he has softball those nights, so I usually get to have a leisure morning. Well today Caleb's class was supposed to wear purple shirts for rainbow day. We do not own a purple shirt, and I forgot to go pick one up last night. So at 7am, when I remembered, I went to find a purple shirt. Kohls was the closest, but not open til 8am; next was Target, again open at the more sane hour of 8am. Last option and furthest away was Walmart, but unless I wanted Hannah Montana on my son's shirt, there were no purple shirts for boys. I settled for a light blue nemo shirt with a purple shark. It was 7:49am when I returned home on my leisure morning. I asked Caleb if he wanted to put on his nemo shirt, and he said no! So much for my great effort. Greg finally got him into his new shirt, and the school had a cute rainbow picture using the different classes colors. I know he is only 2, many are thinking I am crazy for going to all that trouble. My only excuse is I'm crazy! And I was trying to be a good mom. Tonight we went to Greg's softball games; it was a double header. It worked out great since we had two showings on our house tonight. Caleb loved watching daddy out on the field. I was surprised he actually sat and watched most of the game.
He enjoyed analyzing the game with dad in between innings.
We got to play between games.Caleb found a ball and played catch with dad. What an arm!During the last game, Caleb face planted into the cement while trying to run back and forth with the game. My heart stopped when I heard the thud. But he only cried for a couple of minutes, and was mad when I tried to take him to the car. "I wanna watch daddy play!" So we finished the game with a bloody nose and bump to the forehead. Boys!!
It was a long day! And now I am going to have Caleb sleep with us to watch him since it was a nasty fall. It is likely to be a sleepless night!

10 Year Reunion

We had a nice long weekend in Brady. I went back for my 10 year high school reunion and was so excited to see everyone. We had a great time reminiscing and catching up on every ones lives the last several years. It was so neat to see everyone with their beautiful kids. We did good!
I am glad we were able to hang out this weekend. I'll send all the pictures I have to everyone as soon as I can get them all downloaded.
Caleb enjoyed the weekend hanging out with the grandparents. Mom said he didn't even notice we were missing. I think papa turned him into a cowboy already.

A week with Caleb

It's been a while since I've had a chance to blog. So I'll catch everyone up on the last week with Caleb. We had a good week at school, no difficult mornings which was nice. They had sports team day Wednesday, where he of course supported the Dallas Cowboys. Thursday morning we met up with Caleb's friend, Teresa, at Adventure Landing where Caleb made and adopted an Alligator we named Al (which I thought was quite creative, though some apparently disagreed). Then they enjoyed a few of the arcade games. It was a nice way to fill the morning before nap time.
That afternoon we hung out with Trae and played in his pools. They had a good time like always, in fact Caleb was very upset with me for making him leave. Friday he enjoyed Splash day at school, then hanging out with Dad that night while Mom had a girls night. Saturday we went to one of Caleb's daycare friends birthday party at Little Gym.
Several of his classmates were present. It was so funny to watch because the boys were so shy, and the girls were not. Claire was present and she had Caleb following her around. They had a great time.
Caleb didn't want cake of course, and so he ate his fruit and most of the other kids fruit too. He may not be related to me. I of course ate cake!
Last night I made lasagna for dinner, which Caleb thought was pizza. I had him eat in his diaper as I always do when we eat something messy. He had sauce all over his tummy and face like usual, but I guess he didn't realize it because toward the end of dinner he looked down and said "uh oh pizza on my tummy".
He was so cute! Greg felt it would be easier to wash him off outside, which Caleb loved.
Today we went to church and then played inside the rest of the day since it was 104 degrees outside. He enjoyed coloring and sword fighting with dad, and maybe a few episodes of his now favorite Wonder Pets. We took Monte for a walk as the sun was going down. Again Caleb was dragged along behind yelling "no Monte-bug, no", then "Come on Monte-bug" whenever Monte would stop. Our neighbors got a good laugh at least because Caleb is so loud.
Here is Caleb with "AL" watching football, as Caleb said. Dad is so proud. Tucking Caleb in tonight was a family affair, even Monte helped out. Caleb had to give all three of us hugs and kisses before he would lay down. Another week of fun coming to an end. Stay tuned for more next week.
